Frazier
Studios showcases the unique work of furniture designer Robert
G. Frazier. These pieces are an original answer to table designs
based on tetrahedral rather than rectilinear geometry using
a patented edgelapped joint. The table bases can be made from
any hard wood or machined in aluminum. Tops are available
in glass, marble, aluminum, or wood.
These
pieces demonstrate the feasibility, strength, and aesthetics
of a new method of joinery. The design and construction of
this furniture is based on tetrahedral rather than rectilinear
geometry utilizing an edge-lapped joint (patent # 6,123,129),
which can be cut to join three boards in acute or obtuse angles.
The furniture pieces shown demonstrate this tripod joint in
both acute and obtuse configurations, serving as the base
of coffee tables, dining tables, and console tables in either
wood or machined aluminum. Table tops may be in glass, wood,
marble or aluminum. Other applications include bar stools,
and constructions linking two or more joints such as benches,
and larger tables.
