For most of my adult life I have been involved in racing motorcycles and cars. This involvement plays an important part in my furniture in several ways. Having done welding and fabrication for year as a racer, working with steel as a medium was a logical choice, since I had the basic equipment and materials at hand.

The design philosophy that I strive to incorporate in my work also springs from the racing world, i.e., "form follows function". I build my own designs. The only portions that are not done by myself are things like upholstery and glass. I feel that it is important for a designer to know the materials and processes with which he/she is dealing.
